wild rain

"who are you?"

"a broken man."

"you see I understand.

we are all broken, but sometimes this brokenness leads us to openness."

I was about to cry

it’s hard to hide your tears

from the woman you just fell in love with.

"then, who are you?"

"I wish I knew."

"I wish that too.

Joy, I have to leave, it’s night and I need some sleep, tomorrow I need to go to work and teach."

"so you’re a teacher?"

"I write too,

sometimes.

it helps me get through

the hard times

when I put together some rhymes."

I looked into her eyes

why is it so easy to see her soul maybe because it’s pure

I want to enter her life

God, help me to find the door! I gazed into her eyes

her wild fiery eyes

dark brown

gentle

demanded their own space on her charming face.

her melanin took control of her beauty

her attractive lips imprisoned my desires

her circular silver earrings and her braided Afro hair dropped the anchor of love

and hit the sea bottom of my soul.

her bijou nose

added delight to her

like wine with its fruity nose.

I looked into her eyes

and didn’t tell her what was in my heart.

instead, I said goodbye

and went to the door of the old church.

I wanted to leave

because I believed that my heart again will fail

in finding love.

finding love is easy

but keeping it requires everything even letting go of your love.

you have to get lost to be found. 7

I took a step out of the church, the rain tried to overcome me. it didn’t know

every night was rainy for me. in the midst of the rain

and coldness of the moon

I could feel a warm hand on my shoulder.

"Dave,"

I turned back.

she sacrificed her warmness for me.

"give me your phone."

I gave her the phone and put my hand over her head a small shield against the storm

a hand of a goalkeeper

protecting his goal.

she wrote down her number

"I think you forgot to ask

but here it is.

call me. I want to talk to you."

"I promise."

she smiled,

mild and undefiled,

and ran back to get cover

from the wild

rain.
